How about that sun? It just keeps going and going and going. It has been there every morning whether you saw it rise in the sky or not. The clouds might hide it where you are in the world today or you might not have been awake, but it is there. Your father saw the sun and his father saw it before that. Your grandmother’s great grandmother saw it. As a leader of a family, an organization or an entrepreneurial team, the value we provide can be like the sun. It can always be present. If we allow ourselves to get distracted, stop measuring, and lose focus the value will likely decrease. That would be like the sun not showing up today. What would happen to the world without the rays of the sun? Imagine a life of darkness where plant life would cease, and our food supply would vanish. Could we survive? Maybe could be the answer but is our family worth gambling on a maybe? Is your business worth betting on by ignoring our value proposition? As leaders, let us make sure value always gets center stage like the sun always gets a rise and a sunset.
I think that the sun is to our world as Jesus is to our faith. We need Jesus of the past to help shape our present. While we do not want to live in the past, our Christ moves us from the past into the present in a relevant manner. We read, “The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat.” Psalms 1:6 NLT. The sun is a constant in our world. In our faith, Jesus is the constant where our fears get reduced, and our trespasses get forgiven. He helps us to grow so we do not keep starting over at ground zero every day, week, month, or year. What are you doing daily to stay connected to Christ? Regardless of our activities today, we do not ever have to let him leave our heart. Why would we ever allow the sun of the sky to interrupt its path? That would likely have catastrophic results on the earth and for other planets. Why would we allow our Savior, the Son of God, to be removed from our day? What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you have set the world spinning and made the sun to rise daily. Help us to be mindful of the traditions that help us to grow in our faith with Christ. Show us where our traditions might be enhanced. Expose our world to your love and compassion and encourage us to express it. Thank you for the blessings of Jesus on our walks. Guide our feet along this journey we take on the earth. Remind us that we are not home yet. Protect us, connect us, and Iet the sunlight shine in my soul. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen,
