As leaders, we might have a responsibility to shape many benefits for our teams. Our members need many things to survive and thrive. Included could be water, food, and shelter. Some might come from incomes and assets that you influence.
Members might also get compassion, confidence, and enhanced self-worth from the way you might value them. Like a fountain is built to provide a flow or water into a pool, leaders can structure their value to provide comfort, relief, and sustenance to their teams.
Where might you be missing a fountain? If you have a pool, you have to maintain it to keep the water fresh. How is your pool looking if you have one? Are there leaks and cracks which are wasting the energy and structure of the fountain itself? As a leader you are the one that places the limits on the benefits.
They need our attention if we are going to provide them appropriately to the team. Giving compassion when the team needs food will not keep our team connected at the deepest level. If our most important resource is our people, then we must give attention to the benefits.
What do you need to do this week to change or adjust the benefits for your team in the coming year? What is the first thing that you can do about it this week?
As Christians, we have the Bible to serve as a fountain. It provides a means by which the living water of Jesus might be shared with us and the lost. We read, "“On that day a fountain will be opened for the dynasty of David and for the people of Jerusalem, a fountain to cleanse them from all their sins and impurity.” Zechariah 13:1 NLT.
We know the dynasty of David through the Savior Jesus, the Christ. How often are we going to the fountain to experience the living water? Are we sharing the living water from the fountain with those that are thirsty? The living water of Jesus is only limited by us.
The fountain will never run dry. The water will never go stagnant or become impure. Water is a life-giving resource for the human body. The living water of Jesus is the resource for the heart and soul. It is a resource that we can constantly tap into. Not only can we tap into it, but we can become the fountain that shares the water with others.
How can you share it so that others can be refreshed by the pool? Perhaps you are tired, broken and worn out by the world. If so, perhaps you might talk to someone to learn more about living water available through Jesus. What is the first thing that you want to do about the living water in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, thank you for the words of the Bible. Thank you for those that have shaped it and kept it intact for so many years. May its sprays refresh and renew us. May the pools cleanse and cool us.
May we drink deeply from the trickle of living water that you have designed for us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
