Imagine it is 10 AM. The building that you and your team are in has lost power. As leader of the team, what will you do next? What will the members of the team do? One option is that some will begin the process to speculate what has occurred, of which they have no control.
Another option is that the members might find a way to bring value to the team in a way not related to the use of the energy grid. We can remember that as a leader or as a team member, that we do not have to plug into the wall circuitry to give energy.
Thus, we are reminded that we might be the igniter or the spark that lights the candle so that people might be in action. Where might the power be gone, cut off or interrupted on your team right now? Can you go light the candle? Accountability, in our leaders and throughout the entire team, is itself a spark.
Do you have protocols in place for emergencies? Do people know who the leader will be when the power goes out in different ways? As a leader it is up to us to create or to ask others to create such a plan. We are accountable for its creation, deployment, and assignment. What is the first thing that you can do about it today?
As brothers and sisters, the birth of Christ brought the light into the world. We can often get disconnected or distracted and wind up in dark places. But we can always spark love and compassion. We read, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19 NLT.
This verse reminds me that we can share the light of Christ. This can occur regardless of the storms and their raging winds that they may bring. Our power line, our connection through Christ, is never broken or never cut off. If it is dark, then we are accountable to find a way to get the light shining.
If our power outlets seem to be covered up, we are accountable to move the obstacles. We never have to move the obstacle alone as we can always ask for help. If the outlet is without power, we are accountable to check the breaker box to see if the fuse is blown.
If we are shining the light of Christ, we can make our way to the box. If the fuse is fine, then it is up to us to call the power company. We can always send out a prayer to call on the power of God. What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, at times it is easy to fall victim in the darkness. That might occur even if we fall victim to our own attitudes and behaviors. Guide us so that we might be the interruption to those situations. Warm our hearts so that we might be the spark that brings light to those periods of power outages.
Use us as your extension cord to bring your power to those that are hurting. Make us a generator to bring your power and light to those that are lost. Let us be the match that starts a fire in someone’s heart for love of you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
