I like the word "before." I like what it implies to you and me. It might be that if I only knew before something happened that I might be able to have a more positive influence on the outcome. Maybe if I knew before, then some tragedy might be able to be averted. There was once a television program that was based on people knowing that a crime was going to occur in the future. The show spent their time developing the work around for the issue.
Sometimes they were successful and sometimes they were not. As entrepreneurs and leaders, our responsibilities can include working on many before they happen situations. We have business plans, marketing plans and employee schedules that are put together before anything is sold or any service given.
We put those items and offers together before an outcome occurs for a two-way result picture. The two-way result is we think of both the positive, to enhance it and the negative, to avoid those results.
There is much to be benefited by thinking about the before it happens and doing it in the present. Right now, it is before, what are you going to do about it?
The master of the before is God. Before an idol was ever created by us, there was God. Before the earth, sky and seas were in existence, there was God. In Psalms 31, the Psalmist shares with us that all that we say, do and think happens before our God.
In Proverbs 8, we are again reminded that he was here well before we were. We might be well served to think about his actions that came before us as we begin to be responsible for ours. Almost everything happens twice. It happens in front of us and then it happens in our minds.
We can also see things in our minds before we do any action about them. The time of before can be very short or it can be stretched out. Either way we can connect with others to bring God’s love. Our emotions, pains, and fear can get in the way, but they are constructs that are really about the past.
We are working on the present and the future when we think of something before it occurs. If you can do something in your mind first and then experience it, you have experienced a before moment. Perhaps we can seek the opportunity before it comes to us and remember that God will see the before moment first.
He might even meet us there. That inspires me to go there and see if we can connect. Are you willing to try it this week and if so, is there someone you might take with you?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you were and always will be before. You will be here after as well. Help us to remember that you came first and that it makes a difference. May your guidance affect us by influencing our thoughts, our words and our actions before we do them.
Thank you for so many blessings that you have placed in our lives and the opportunities that exist for us because you are here before us. Let us remember that we make our decisions in front of you. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen,
