February 12. The Power Of A Rudder Multiplies When Attached To A Ship.

Mark Queen • February 11, 2024

Working with a team can multiply value.

What can you get done today for your family, for your business, your team of employees and the customers? Now think about how much more you can get done with a partner. We have partnerships just about anywhere we have a relationship.

Often, we are tempted to think that it is all about us. Have you ever known an entrepreneur that did not think that they could not get the job done? But one of the most difficult things to do is to delegate effectively. There are areas that we just do not function as well as a partner can.

I think about my former hunting partner Brownie, a German Shorthaired Pointer, without whom, I would hardly ever find the birds. I would walk aimlessly about but with him, he brought his skills and talents and they complimented mine in the field.

We were not perfect together, but we were better together than without one another. Working in partnership with others allows us the possibility to work towards a single goal and value purpose. The key is to create those partnerships with resources of different strengths.

Working with a mirror is a restrictive partnership. All that would reflect would be your energies. Where might you need to improve a current partnership and where do you need to add one?

In the book of Exodus of the Bible we read, "The LORD replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.”” Exodus 33:14 NLT. Moses is in partnership with God. We also read about Moses and Aaron's partnership.

There are countless other examples of the partnerships and the challenges to those partnerships in the Bible. Sometimes the partnerships come under stress. I think that should be normal because we come under stress ourselves.

Why would they be any different about stress when most partnerships are made up of people? We are the creators of stress. But the strongest partnerships look through the stress, to the results they desire and to communicate about how to move forward.

They are focused on the value of the "ship" because a ship without a rudder is like driftwood. Where are you floating today where adding a rudder would enhance or even multiply value? Where do you need to let others know that you appreciate their collaborative energies?

That might be like adding some grease to a rudder that seems to have gotten a little sticky. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?

Let us pray, Jesus, you are our most influential partner in our lives. You complete us. Where we are not filled, you fill. Where we come up short, you complete us. When we sin, you provide forgiveness and have made the sacrifice for us.

Help us to be in strong partnerships with others here on the earth. May we help others find you to be in partnership. May the greatest rudder of all time guide us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
