It can be uncomfortable to be somewhere that others do not recognize you for who you have become. We can get used to our old notion of who people were and then keep that image. Unless you have a reason to update or reboot your perspective it stays with the old perspective.
We tend to believe what our minds tell us about the past of people. But the past is not the present. We can be in the present but it is up to us to bring the focus there. It can be tough in business to keep the past, and especially its successes, in the past.
We bring the past systems, the past people, and the past inventory into the present with us. But the challenge for some is to come to the present and to acknowledge what the value is now. Where is our business and its people now?
This is the first step towards a future that is bigger than the present. How can we be of value now and move that value even bigger into the present of tomorrow? We might start by realizing that what got us here will not likely be that which will get us to where we want to be.
A new destination will require something new. Our value does not have to get stuck like the old perception that you might have of people of your past. What is the first area of your sphere of influence that you would make bigger?
What is the first step you can take towards it in the next seven days?
In Mark 6:1-6, we hear about Christ going back to his hometown. He shares himself in the present of the moment. He shared what he had become, as announced by John the Baptist, but the townspeople were stuck in the past.
They saw him perform some healing, but they did not accept who he had become. He did not perform any miracles while with them. Christ knew his ministry and found their unbelief amazing. But the unbelief did not keep him from moving forward.
Their unbelief did not define, deter, or derail who he was, what he was or who he would become on the cross. If you are living your l ife as his disciple, then we can follow in the same pattern. We can move past the fears and from the questions of self-doubt that sometimes arise for everyone.
Where are we stuck in the past and not accepting where we have come to? If you can only believe in miracles in the past or future, I think we should choose to believe in them in our future. What miracles are we keeping from occurring because of our beliefs and perceptions?
What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, we need your miracles in our lives. We can remain in our places of comfort very easily but that does not necessarily allow us to experience your miracles. We want your miracles in our lives now.
Help us to reflect upon the past and to see opportunities to grow with you. We want your miracles in our future. Help us to live fully. We want you in our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
