Have you ever been to a new group and not been introduced?
I want to ask us to consider, as team leaders, how do you introduce members of your team? It can be awkward to be part of an originating conversation or gathering and not be introduced. I've been there and I bet that you have too. I believe that it is a serious part of who we can become as a team.
I have met entrepreneurs that can do a great job of introducing their teams while I have met others who do not introduce their team members at all. If we are not introducing them, we might fail to be tapping into the full potential of our team’s value. We could be wasting energy as our clients and customers do not know to whom they can reach out to for certain issues.
Where might you be restricting your value because you have not introduced someone? An introduction is one way to provide value to our team members as it provides affirmation which is one of the four ways in which we can reward one another.
We do not know what connection we might have missed out on when we fail to introduce others. There are social, professional, family, faith or even hobby connections that might be made with an introduction. What can you do in the next seven days to introduce more effectively?
This is my friend, my brother in Christ, my men's covenant group brother, a go-to laugh partner, my best resource in the field of all things associated with printing, John. Yes, that is his real name and those are the real descriptors that I could use when introducing him.
It might just be in a world of political correctness that we have forgotten how to introduce people. Did you take a class in school about how to introduce someone? What about at church, did you attend a seminar or Sunday school class on how to introduce a fellow brother or sister of the faith?
If we do not have the training to introduce others it might just be that we are not deploying the skill and not having the impact that we can have for Christ. And give my greetings to the believers from the household of Aristobulus.” Romans 16:10 NLT. The entire 16th chapter can challenge our perspective of introducing. Are you having an impact on others with the means that you introduce others? How might we confirm our introductions even when we depart as taught by the way the writer of Romans did it?
Introducing others in a meaningful way is likely best done when we have the correct attitude. Placing importance on Introducing others challenges us to be focused on others and their value. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, thank you for a voice. You have created the world and given us hope in Christ. You are the provider of grace, joy and love and you have shared it by sending us Christ. Watch over us as we use our tongues to introduce our brothers and sisters in Christ to one another and to those who do not know Christ yet.
Send your Holy Spirit to be among us when we introduce Christ to others. Make all of our introductions bring honor to you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
