As entrepreneurs and leaders, we know the value of advisors. We have likely heard from others during all aspects of growing others, growing services, and distributing products. But when we use advisors, it is important to know why they do what they do.
It is as important as knowing our own why. Can you think of an advisor that has been on your team in the past where you just did not seem to connect? Looking back on that relationship now, can you see where your purposes were not in sync?
If we use advisors who are not working in coordination with our why, we are likely to run into conflict with the advice. What can you do to improve your advisor relationships? Where are you missing advisors? When we deploy our leadership skills the area of advisors is not to be ignored.
What is the first thing to do about it in the next seven days?
In 1 Kings 12:8 NLT we read, “But Rehoboam rejected the advice of the older men and instead asked the opinion of the young men who had grown up with him and were now his advisers." This passage speaks to us to let us know that advisors are worthy relationships.
But as brothers and sisters in Christ we must choose very wisely. When we agreed to accept Christ, and to follow him, we allowed him and the Holy Spirit to be advisors. Who else would you like on your team as advisors? Are we prepared to tell others why we want them as an advisor?
Are you prepared to ask a future advisor why they believe that they fit as an advisor to you? I think it is reasonable to ask and know if we have advisors who are not followers of Jesus? If they are not, in the role as an advisor they need to know of the importance of our faith.
What is the first thing you can do to change your advisory team in the next seven days? Changing the team does not mean we have to add or get rid of anyone. The Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit can change anyone if they are given the opportunity..
Let us pray, Jesus, you are my strongest adviser. Send the Holy Spirit to move me and my team of advisors. Help me to build upon our team so as to serve you. Walk and ride with us today. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
