May 9. Mixing Beliefs Is Not The Same As Mixing Yeast And Flour.

Mark Queen • May 8, 2024

Mixing beliefs is a recipe that might leave a bad taste.

Belief in your value proposition might be the most important part of any business. Would you want to do business with a company if the owner does not carry with them a high level of confidence about their belief in their services? If the owner does not carry that belief, then the team will be challenged as well.

If the opposite is true, where team members do not carry the belief, there will probably be conflict also. The team members will not be working together for the benefit of the long-term goals. Sure, they might be able to get along for a while, but the value proposition will suffer.

When beliefs are different, we might expect that behaviors will also be different. What can be really challenging is that beliefs can and will change over time. For many teams the value of their product and service has changed over time. If the value has changed the beliefs have changed also.

The great variable in this paradox is people. What do you believe about your value proposition and your company? How does it match up to the rest of your team? What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?

In the Bible, the sixth chapter of the book of John can be a very challenging area for readers. It shares Jesus' discussion about being the bread of life. John shares that many who were followers up to this point left the movement when this occurred. How can Jesus be the bread of life?

Does he have yeast and flour in his pocket? How can we all eat a man or is he going to feed us to keep us from starving? Obviously, some of the followers did not make the connections needed and did not carry the belief. We might do well to examine where we are out of alignment with our own beliefs and what Christ taught?

It might be that we have not spent enough time questioning, studying, or understanding an issue. What we believe might not be correct, but it is our perception for the moment. What can we do thi

s week to challenge our own beliefs and perceptions?

One belief we know is true, that Christ came to suffer on the cross to be in relationship with us. For today, let us be intentional about focusing on what we believe and be curious about what others believe. No judgment is needed.

If we catch ourselves comparing or being judgmental, may it be about the difference as to what Jesus might have believed. What is the first thing you can do in the next seven days to align your perceptions with Christ's values?

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you are all knowing, and we are limited by what our minds allow us to see. Help to remove the fog in our minds’ eye. Let us see the colors and shapes as they really are.

Help us to move around to see different perceptions so that we might come to know the perception that Christ knows to be true. May the clarity that results, be clarity that promotes the love and relationship that we have for Jesus. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
