As a leader, whether in an organization or a family, it is important to find the positive pieces of our journey. What is it that positive thinking does to our bodies and outlooks? It might be the cortisol in our brains, or it may be the joy in our hearts, but something helps us to convert the energy into something productive.
Negativity does not do much for me to make me productive. How about you? Does someone sharing that your task is not being completed satisfactorily motivate you or does it make you feel judged? Does it bring forth frustration? Frustration tends to be limiting to me. It makes me think that I do not have time for other things.
It limits me to think that I cannot go on until I solve this problem. It tries to tell me that I am stuck and will not be able to move forward. I think we can seek fascination instead. Fascination leads us towards the positive. Switching to being fascinated only requires us to authentically engage curiosity.
I am curious as they said the door was locked. I wonder how I might get out. How might you be able to find something fascinating today which would transform the frustrations? Bust your limits today.
As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are not promised life without problems. Our path is not straight, and it is not always well lit. We will have dark times, dangerous times, and other times that are foggy at best. We read, “The godly will see these things and be glad, while the wicked are struck silent.” Psalms 107:42 NLT.
How might we be able to turn our frustrations into fascination in these dark times? When we read Christ's examples in the Bible you can certainly find fascination. Christ was able to transform so many situations. Examples include turning water into wine, blind people being made to see, and do not forget the telling of the women at the well who heard all about her past.
I know that if I had witnessed any of these I would have been fascinated. Maybe our focus this week can be on doing the same. But we get to choose, will we be frustrated, or will we be fascinated? I think a path of fascination is the more Christ-like life. What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you have given us a glorious day. Help us to find the joy in the wonder of the sunrise or the sunset. Help me to find the splendor of the fall leaves as they change from green to rust, to orange and to brown.
May we find the fascination that you have shaped for us instead of the frustrations of this world. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
