November 30. Do You Prefer Music Or Buzzer?

Strengthening others might take an alarm.

As leaders, some of our work will be repetitious. We can find value in doing some things over and over. We want to find ways to strengthen our team and to give more value. It is as if we want to reset the alarm clock to be a reminder for ourselves and the team.

An alarm or reminder going off and saying, "Strengthening at nine, strengthening at nine" might be the routine to encourage others. Without the alarm clock, we might miss the opportunity to strengthen someone else. When we are not strengthening others, we have allowed some limits to stop our growth.

Can a leader really expect to achieve growth without the interruption happening? What repetitions for strengthening does your team have in place? Has someone hit the snooze button on the alarm clock and missed the limits? Maybe the leader or leadership team has not set the alarm.

What alarm clock are you using as a leader to strengthen your value? Buzz! There is not just one way for the alarm to go off. Clocks vary with their alarms as some can use a buzzer, music, and others use digitally spoken words. Which will you choose to use to break some limits? What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?

As followers of Christ, we want to grow in our journey with him. But there might be times in our lives, in the ups and downs, that we are not as strong in our relationship as we wish. Some greet the trials of life by retreating in their faith while others retreat in their faith while experiencing successes.

It happens both ways. But it is never too late to reconnect. We read, “Wake up! Strengthen what little remains, for even what is left is almost dead. I find that your actions do not meet the requirements of my God.” Revelation 3:2 NLT. Wake up it says.

I like that because regardless of the type of alarm clock or system you use to wake up, every day starts anew. We do not have to drag on from day to day, living in a world of decay.

We can choose to reset, to search, and live life to the fullest. What system are you using to reset every day in your faith? Living with Christ is not about resetting only on Sunday or a day of worship. When we choose to reset only on a day of worship, we are limiting our ability to grow.

An alarm clock limits the sleep mode of our body and calls us to action. We certainly need our sleep to re-energize our internal batteries. But even charging our internal batteries has limits. Where can you set the alarm and reset now to prepare for the end of the year? What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?

Let us pray, Jesus, you have no alarm clock that needs reset for us, as you are continually there for us. But as the Father chooses the color of the sunrise, let us reset daily. May we stop snoozing and choose our activities and attitudes to draw nearer to you. May we breathe deeply in the joy of life and may we exhale our sins and stress. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
