As leaders, we need team members. For employers, attracting and retaining quality employees is one of the most important aspects of leading a team. How is your team expanding this year? Some leaders have the same system that they have had for the last fifty years.
No modifications might have occurred. Others might not have any system at all, and the process is completely random. When a new team member is needed, some type of search occurs, and a position is filled. Hiring at random will probably deliver random results.
I do not think that random and value are found in the same sentence too often. Where is your process for attracting and retaining employees strongest? Why is it strongest and why is your weakest area so weak? Maybe our attention or perspective needs an adjustment.
If our attitude is that our system is good already then it is limited. Until we are turning quality applications away our attitude might be about continuous improvement. Maybe all it takes is a ten-minute perspective review to see how you might improve it. Who can you talk to about it in the next seven days?
As a people of faith, what are you leaving to randomness? We are called to be intentional people. To love intentionally might just summarize much of the New Testament. That includes having compassion and support for one another. We live lives that are full of possibilities through Jesus.
We read, “An employer who hires a fool or a bystander is like an archer who shoots at random." Proverbs 26:10 NLT. Where are you shooting at random? Is that how we want to be loved? Maybe we can find a deeper relationship by knowing that we will spend time in the Word, not just hearing it occasionally when we make it to worship.
Maybe our relationship will grow deeper when our worship is not on a random schedule but the standard for the worship day. Maybe it is us that need to be less random when we realize that our God is always the constant. When our attitude of randomness and consistency ratio improve, we might find God in both.
What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you have created the earth and the heavens. Only you can organize the randomness of the universe into love. Guide us out of our complacency so that we might leave randomness to find you more often. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
