Where does one find the value proposition when disaster strikes? When teams focus on value, the financial ramifications during a disaster may become a matter of love, respect, and courtesy. It is not about the money. In a blink, things change. Can you imagine your eye getting stuck in a blink?
I ask this because you might begin to feel discomfort with the thought of it. When natural disasters strike, our first concern is for the people. We become concerned about our family, our team and our clients. Sure, there will be concerns for how our resources will require adjustments.
But maintaining our focus will help to relieve the fear and help us lead. Where have you or are you experiencing fear? Maybe the first step towards removing fear is to move our attention to our value proposition immediately. Even in a disaster, you can still have value. Who would be the first twenty-five people you would want to talk to after a disaster?
These people might be representative of who you value. For the few, disaster might even serve as a launching pad for building and enhancing value. Leadership is needed when disaster strikes. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
Brothers and sisters, we live in a world where the environment and climate of the world is ever changing. Sometimes it does so without regard to human life or property destruction. We read, “In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.” Proverbs 23:5 NLT.
But where do we find our biggest value proposition? I am sure it is in Christ. When we are a victim of a disaster, we experience loss. But Christ is never lost. He is always present but it is us who become lost, even if for just a blink. Where might you be stuck in a blink?
When that happens it is going to be uncomfortable. Who can help you complete the blink and reconnect with Christ? Being a leader might just mean we help so that we get stuck less in those broken blinks. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, thank you for our families, for our teams and our relationships. We are blessed by the people in our lives so much. May our relationship with Christ help us to maintain those relationships and to strengthen all of them through him.
Guide us when we are caught in a blink. May our eyes see Christ first before we view anything else. In Jesus’s name, we pray. Amen,
