It is important as leaders and entrepreneurs to have relationships with mentors and others. We can consider their examples and learn in private as they can be confidants. When things work great it is easy to find team members to celebrate with. But when there are challenges and losses, we need someone as a confidant as well.
The sooner we can overcome the senses that come with loss, like guilt, disappointment, or shame, the quicker we can learn our lessons and move forward. Who do you have that you may go to today if things are not going well? If things went really bad, who would you go to then?
There is power in being able to have reflections of others with a different perspective to help us get back on track. If we have an attitude that we can do it by ourselves, we are missing the use of powerful assets. Where might you be off track and who is the confidant, you can go to about it?
What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days? Where might you be off track? Are you stuck and thinking that you are the only one who can get you unstuck? This is a mindset trap that can be easily slipped into. The saboteurs in our mind are likely to creep into our space to influence our attitude.
Who are the three candidates to consider as a confidant to which you can go to about it? If you do not have one, then find one. If you cannot find one, feel free to reach out to us. What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
I want to confess. How many times have you heard that in the last week, last month or last year? Once, maybe twice? Our desire to be strong and be right goes deep within us. But just as we can help each other grow and celebrate in good times we should be able to count on one another in the bad times as well.
"Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16 NLT. We need brothers and sisters in Christ to have as confidants with which to bring our troubles to.
We all fall short of what God wants us to be. Except for Jesus, even the greatest examples of faithful living have fallen more than once. Do you have a couple of accountability partners for your faith journey? Are you a partner for someone else? What a relief it would be to take a load off of our backs.
Our confidants and partners just might be able to help us. It might start by considering an adoptive attitude that others are willing to help and not harm us. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Jesus, you are our confidant. You have sacrificed so much for us but often we need a confidant that will look us in the eye. We need their love and understanding without judgement. Our accountability partners can allow us to bare our souls when we need to, which can lighten the load.
This world gets heavy sometimes and it is often our partners that can help to pick us up. Give us strength to lift and not judge. Help us as the body of Christ to lift each other up to you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
