August 17. The Fine Line Of Honor And Neglect.
What part is getting a lot of attention.
Here is a challenging question for entrepreneurs and team leaders. Which part of your team do you honor the most? While you ponder about your answer, allow me to reflect about some possibilities. If I say that I honor sales, as it brings the revenue to the company, the company’s reputation will suffer if sales support and production are not effective.
If I say that I honor the team that keeps track of where the numbers are, then I expect that our sales team and the numbers might not perform up to your standards. If we honor the janitorial staff the most, our facilities might be very clean, and we might have an abundance of cleaning chemicals and supplies but we might not have the staff needed to administrate our teams.
The answer to where do we honor the most, might just be that the honor needs to be spread among the entire team. It is true that at times, it might need spread in an unequal proportion. When a body becomes injured, we give a quick review of the entire body but quickly focus on the injury.
We then honor it by giving it resources, treatment and care. Where might your attention and honor have been neglectful recently? What part of your team seems to be in a regular or even constant state of injury? Instead of dealing with constant injury maybe the team needs some changes that would help it to be less prone to breaking.
What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
As brothers and sisters in Christ, I want to remind you that you have value, regardless of how broken you might think you are. I do not know what your calling is, what your spiritual gifts are, or how you might love others, but you are a valuable part of the body of Christ.
God has a place for each of us. Christ came and was resurrected for you and for me regardless of each of our unique talents, capabilities, and skills. He has asked each of us to do our part though. “In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.
This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other.” 1 Corinthians 12:22, 25 NLT. Let us live fully, not in fear of anything but to love, honor, and obey. Where have you not been living up to the call of Christ? How might you be able to live and love deeper?
Where might you be able to reach out and help someone else up? What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Father God, your design is too grand for us to understand. We are as different and unique as we could be and yet we are called to be one, the body of Christ. Lead us and guide us to honor one another in love.
May our words of our tongues and actions of our hands and feet glorify you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
