Entrepreneurs and leaders drive value and therefore change. We would be wise to remember that we really do not multitask effectively as our brain handles one thing at a time. Let us think of value for the moment. We cannot affirm our team at the same time as we correct them.
Our brain uses two different parts for these actions. Our affirmations of our teams, families and clients enhance value when we do it correctly. Doing corrections and affirmations in the same conversation can mix the signal and dissolve the purpose. It might be like trying to boil water while ladling out the hot and adding cold.
We can look very busy in our processes, but the results are not going to be very effective. Where have you been putting cold water in the pot? I wonder where your management team thinks that cold water is being poured? Who do you trust to ask their opinion?
As leader, can we ask without judgment being cast on the person. As a leader do you need to ladle out the hot or add in the cold? Doing both will not likely work in most instances. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
In our faith, we cannot be thankful and worried at the same time either. I believe that science has proved it in our brain patterns. Where might you be concerned or worried? Do you see that you might have a choice to occupy the space and replace it with praise?
We read, “His presence was a joy, but so was the news he brought of the encouragement he received from you. When he told us how much you long to see me, and how sorry you are for what happened, and how loyal you are to me, I was filled with joy!” 2 Corinthians 7:7 NLT. Joy, I like that.
If joy is missing, maybe it is because we have not been allowing thankfulness to occupy our mental space. If we want to be bubbling like boiling water for Christ, we cannot be adding cold water and expect the bubbling to last. We lead in our faith journey by finding space to trust God.
We do not have to avoid real fears but fears should not rule our life. We have an abundant supply of love and capability. That abundance is challenged by the mindfulness of the fears of this world. Where can you lead in your faith to embrace the abundance and joy the God desires for us?
What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, we are thankful for your creation, for the sunrise and the sunset. We celebrate and are full of joy when we think of our Savior Jesus Christ. Shine your light and joy into the dark places of our hearts and minds where worry resides.
May we share your light with others who are seemingly stuck in the shadows. Encourage us through the Holy Spirit to keep out the worry. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
