Being a successful entrepreneur or leader takes time. We assemble a team, gather resources, and determine what we and our market believe to be valuable. Often it might seem that things move too slow at the beginning. Yet when our teams are really in the groove and ramped up things might seem that they are moving too fast.
But a great regulator is the promise. A promise to complete something in seven days obligates ourselves. When things are slow, we have the capacity for many promises. When things are ramped up fewer promises might be appropriate. But making promises seems to be a tool that we can overlook.
When was the last time you wrote a promise down and shared it with someone? A written promise might be the most powerful tool for your team to use in the next seven days. If progress is too slow or too fast, consider making a set of promises to regulate your time. What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
As Christians, we are called to have one focus and that is Jesus Christ. But we often find ourselves caught in this world and its desires that it casts upon us. We must balance between the matters of God and the matters of the world. The power of the promise is often the great equalizer.
We can always count on the promises of God. We read, “Do not make rash promises, and do not be hasty in bringing matters before God. After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So, let your words be few."
We read as well, "When you make a promise to God, do not delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him.” Ecclesiastes 5:2, 4 NLT. Among your relationships, is there a promise that you would like to make to someone? A promise steps up our commitment to deliver.
Where might you be able to make a promise this week? There is no better time than now to make a promise. What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you are the Master of the universe. Your promises are the promises that we count on. The sun will rise and the sun will set everyday as your word does not fail. Pour out your confidence on us today and encourage our words to be those of a promise.
Bless our relationships and make the powerful words we speak as promises guide our actions. In the name Jesus, Amen,
