As a leader of an already established team, you have experienced success. Past goals have been met, new team members have been assigned roles, and new ways have been shaped.
When external factors change, it can challenge us and the team. It is like a thunderstorm building in the pathway of your flight plan. The thunderstorm is viewed as a limiting factor. The extreme winds of the storm test the aerodynamics and the passengers will be required to remain seated with lap belts attached.
The risks on the outside of the airplane even create limits on the interior of the plane. To complete the trip will require a decision to fly through, fly over, avoid the storm to the left or the right. It is possible that the flight would best be served by slowing down to let the storm pass or perhaps landing is the best choice.
The storm requires an adjustment by the pilot to keep the plane and passengers safe. When this occurs, it is now that the plane’s navigator and its tools are extra valuable. The navigator will give the pilot the data it needs to make the decision for the protection of the people and the equipment.
Acquiring the benefits of a navigator helps to identify and remove the limits that a leader faces. What challenges have arisen in the last ninety days? Who on your team can serve as a navigator?
If you do not have one, perhaps now is the time to find one to finish strong and start something even stronger. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
As brothers and sisters, we too can have external factors that arise in our lives. They affect our journey with Christ as well as the team.
We read, “You issued a decree requiring all the people to bow down and worship the gold statue when they hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes, and other musical instruments.” Daniel 3:10 NLT.
Daniel and his associates refused to abandon their primary purpose. Worshiping only God as they knew him, was their purpose. They did not have an alternative they were willing to consider. New regulations, new details, and new leadership affect our journey.
But your destination does not have to alter. It is our pathway that must alter. That can be uncomfortable. Maybe God wants us to get comfortable being a little bit uncomfortable. Where are you feeling a little anxious or uncomfortable?
We have a navigator in Jesus that is willing to engage us. He has paid the price to give us a new way, a new path. He can help us to land where we are uncomfortable. He can guide us to slow down or speed up.
And he can bring others who can help us to love others when the thunderstorms of life come upon us. Are you ready to bust through the limits of your life with the help of Christ? What can you do daily in the next seven days to adjust your flight path of your faith?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you are the Creator and the Great Comforter. You have sent Jesus Christ to comfort us. There is nothing that we can do or have done, that can separate your comfort from us.
When we find ourselves unstrung, unhinged, and undone, make us find you faster. Put our frustrations and distractions aside so that we might clearly have sight on our destination. Make our new path known. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
