July 17. Making Progress And Profit.

As entrepreneurs or as a leader on a organizational team, we can choose to focus on value propositions or on offering commodities. Commodity types of businesses tend to be shorter term-based businesses. The transactions are quick and generally price sensitive.

Competition is almost always present for them, and the importance of relationships is downplayed. But value proposition businesses result in relationships. They are focused on value first. It is expected that a result of the relationship can be a mutually beneficial profit to both parties.

It does not have to be a profit at the expense of one or the other. Our world of commerce has both types of businesses. It might just be that you could improve your profits for the next two quarters by focusing on your relationships. Our attitude towards team members can sometimes lean toward relationship or transactions as well.

We can think about the people on a team that have been present only for a transaction. The attitude towards them as temporary can be restrictive in many ways. One way might result in a leader failing to invest in them at full capacity. Why should one give the same energy and resources to those that will not be here for a long return?

Can you sense the restriction in that attitude? Who is the first person on your team you might think about that is experiencing this type of restriction? What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?

As brothers and sisters in faith, we know and declare that we believe that Jesus died on the cross for us. We have been made right in God's sight by our faith in that belief. But if we are made right by this action, are we flawless, forgiven, redeemed, made new and worthy?

We read in Romans the following: “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.” Romans‬ 5:1‬ NLT‬‬. If we are made right, then we have peace. Peace it says. Where might you be carrying anxiety?

Why do you and I carry it? Why do we allow ourselves to be trained and influenced by the world and the influences of media or other messages when we are right in God's sight? Maybe we can begin today to give in and accept by faith that God's got this.

Let us focus on one small piece of anxiety and replace it with the perspective that God might tell us we are ok in his eyes without the worry. An attitude of peace is not a commodity. It is not a short-term concept as defined by God. Peace with God is about a relationship. This attitude of peace is worth our attention and effort to deploy.

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you have the world in your hands. You have the breath of th

e Holy Spirit to move among us and shift our perspective. Let us release our anxieties, worries, and replace them with the confidence of your hands.

Help us to release concerns when we catch them. May we trust in you, in only you and may you be glorified through the process. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
