What areas are calling for your attention today? I would say that there are many. It could be accounts payable, accounts receivable, marketing, advertising, website, blog, pricing, legal, sales or service. It could be sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, mothers, fathers, grandsons, or granddaughters.
How many items or messages are calling for your attention? Are you being pulled in many directions? If so, maybe for today we need to bring some focus and clarity, block by block, to make progress. Let us clear the clutter for ninety minutes at a time. Let us give our focus on just one priority during that time.
We can then celebrate a transition time in which we can give thanks for our progress before we move onto the next topic for ninety minutes. Placing some limits on ourselves can be a very productive task. Many times, we allow the perspectives of others priorities or technology to dictate tasks for us.
That may not always be the right priority for us to follow as the leader. Maybe a short break to transition to the next focus is in order. What is the first thing you can do in the next seven minutes that could impact the next seven days?
What do Succoth-Benoth, Nergal, Ashima, Nibhaz, Tartak, Adrammelech and Anammelech have in common with God? They were considered gods and worshiped by the foreigners who took over the territory of the Kingdom of Israel in the book of 2 Kings 17:30-31. Were those people distracted or what?
They had the opportunity to worship the one true God but there was much in the way. I can relate because there are many things in our modern culture that want our worship. The demands want our time, actions and behaviors and we can approach the concept of idolatry if we are not careful.
Where might you benefit by focusing on the next ninety minutes? What part of your life is more important than being in relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? It can be
difficult to be a leader to your family, your marriage, your team, your enterprises and causes when we realize that they all have multiple demands.
But Jesus asked us to follow him and to make him the cornerstone. If you cannot clear the next ninety minutes for him, maybe you can use the next seven minutes to find some time for the one true God.
What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven minutes or seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, the one true God, we come to you at this time recognizing that we are distracted. We realize that there are many items that want our attention but there are none more important than you. Let our vision be clear and may we make you our priority today and this week. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
