June 5. United Or Untied?

When a team is united, much can be accomplished. The synergy of the team can help us to achieve and thrive together. It can even protect, overcome, and elevate the weakest component. This happens because it operates on a higher level.

We are better together when we have united into an agreed purpose, value offer, or why. But when a team is not united, serving apart and unaligned in purpose, it operates at a lower level. The weakest component then is restrictive to the overarching results.

The weakest link holds us back, slows the team down and can cause the team to disintegrate at worst. Where might your team be falling short of its possible result? Could it be that it is not united? Did you see that if you get the "it" of united backwards, it spells untied?

All it takes to get that word spelled is to have one letter out of place. That is very similar to what can happen on our teams. The impact can be substantial and significant. It might be that someone on your team is not speaking up and saying what needs said.

Some team members have been set aside, dismissed as unimportant, and devalued. A result can be that they will not put themselves out in front of others even if it would help the team. Self-preservation and limitation can occur. When that happens, a team is untied. Who might be untied in your organization?

This is an attitude that leaders can address with their teams. When they do, they can raise the impact of the team in total. What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?

In the book of Acts, 4‬:32‬ NLT, we read about how effective a united team can be. All the believers were united in heart and mind. They felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. As a follower of Christ, we awaken daily with a choice which is to be united with Christ or not.

Our thoughts, actions and words will reflect if we are united or not. When  we are weak, it is our united affiliation that can lift us from the depths of despair. It can lift us from our sense of failure. Where do you feel you are struggling to be united? Do you have friends or family that do not seem to be united right now?

As believers, we are the church, and we can be the ones to help others get tied into a stronger relationship with Jesus. Who is the first person that comes to mind as someone that seems to be untied? Just because it is your opinion that they are untied does not mean it is true.

If our own attitude is one of being united, then we can seek to be united with those struggling as well. If we are united then we can help others get tied to Jesus and the church. Let us pray, Father God, our hope is in your Son Jesus. Strengthen our bond, give us courage, and unite us. Make the Holy Spirit rest on us and bind us. May we be united in a manner that glorifies you.
