March 14. Life Is More Than A Race. It's A Relay.

Who needs to be on the track to take the baton?

Have you ever heard that life is a relay? Business owners need others to partner with them to achieve success. Leaders need a team that will follow and provide value. When life is a relay, we pass the baton forward.

Finding the right people to be on your team to pass the baton to is important. If we are not aligned with one another the baton will swing wildly and the handoff will likely drop. We learn to run in the same lane as we will cause disqualification when we fail to do so.

Sometimes the baton will fail to even get passed when out of alignment. Our hands need to come together and to come together at the right time. We must learn to let go at the right time as well. We need people with great attitudes and competent talents.

We must learn to work together and be trained in our collaborative efforts. But we also need some people to have leadership capabilities. Someone must assemble the team, get them trained and be ready to focus when the starting pistol sound rings in the air.

How many have you chosen to be a leader at your company? If you have not chosen them yourself then others might be appointing a leader for you. Why would one expect followers to stay in your lane if we are not focused on how to serve them and lead them in our lane?

What can you do in the next seven days to choose or confirm a leader?

Moses' run was a great one. One of the biggest stories in the Bible. He was a leader but even the biggest runs come to an end. Who are we choosing and how do we choose the leaders in our lives? Are we allowing God to use his still small voice to guide the way or are we doing it our way?

Moses had Joshua as his replacement, and he was well prepared. Being prepared can be accomplished on a dual tract. A leader can be engaged in training those that will serve in their place someday.

Wisdom, valuable insight, intellectual knowledge, and life experiences can be shared of how Jesus has made a difference in our lives. Maybe God has placed someone in your life already who might be a candidate to follow you. Who might they be?

Perhaps you might grow in your faith by discipling with someone else who has leadership qualities that appeal to your stage of life. Without a focus on who can help us grow or who we can help grow, the growth is likely stunted. Jesus had twelve disciples he asked to follow him.

Who are your closest twelve? What could you do in the next seven days to locate your leaders and grow them or thank them?

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you are the ultimate leader and guide. Bring us together and help us to know those that trust in you. Place your blessing upon those that lead your people as well as those who follow you with their whole hearts. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
