March 15. A Valentine's Day Or A St. Patrick's Day Gift?

Mark Queen • March 15, 2024

What is the best gift you can give this week?

Do you ever get stuck and cannot seem to come up with a way to express your love for someone on Valentine's Day? If that is true, then one might really get stuck on what type of gift you give on St. Patrick's Day? Does that holiday require a gift?

There are a lot of activities happening in our world on holidays. It is a nice little boom for restaurants and retailers. Valentine's Day is one of the most important days of the year if you are a chocolate seller or florist.

Whatever your business might be, we are all able to think about others and how we will provide value. The workspace does not have to eliminate love. I believe that we all want to be appreciated and affirmed so why not give away love with our product or service.

As entrepreneurs we have many demands that we place on ourselves. We willingly accept risks for the benefit of ourselves, our families, employees, and customers. At the end of the day, it is not the risks that get the most valuable rewards but the love you give.

It is not about us but how we can serve others and create value for them. As a leader, is your value proposition for others greater than your reward. How might you enhance your value today?

As a Christian leader, how do you celebrate holidays? In America, Valentine's Day is looked on as a day to celebrate love. There have been many gifts to express love. Flowers, chocolates, balloons are all common on that holiday.

To get extravagant, some people go way beyond this and give surprise travel gifts, cars, or diamonds. But the best gift of love ever given was the gift of Christ given to us from God. On this St. Patrick's Day, how will you experience the greatest gift of love ever shown, our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ?

If our leadership on our foundation of faith is ignored, we might get distracted and think that green is the most important aspect of the day. To experience and give love, no sale is needed, green is not required, and no parade must take place.

The ultimate sacrifice has been paid for us. How can you lead with love as you celebrate for the next seven days?

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, this week our society thinks of the Irish. When we think of love, we think of you and your example. Thank you for loving us first. Thank you for showing us your love.

Guide us to show our love for you by loving others. Empower us to love them more deeply and more authentically. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
