Sometimes as an entrepreneur or leader we put systems in place. We need the systems for delivery of consistency. There are systems for payroll, software, and security. Think of as many systems as you can quickly that you have helped influence.
It is intriguing to realize that we are tempted by our logic processes to have those systems match and connect. First things must be first and then have another system to complete follow through. Each system connects to the next one so that a complete loop is created.
Sounds reasonable enough. Systems can be designed to honor other things such as profits, people, or destruction. But at the end what we might want is for our products and services to be honoring value. When this mindset is used it will likely mean the product or service is being honorable.
Most products and services are not created to hurt or harm people. Part of the honor of your product includes that it is to be sold with reasonable profits. Another part is for our companies and people to be a part of a progressing community.
Where might we have built systems more concerned with matching than with a focus on honor? If we have not used a mindset of honor in building the systems, we have some hidden limits. Discovering our limits can uncover value.
How does your service or product honor your customer and advance them? What is the first thing you can do to improve your systems to honor your relationships with your customers?
I was reading in the book of Numbers 2:12 NLT one day when I came across a passage about one of the many festivals that the nation of Israel holds. I found it odd that the first day of activities started with a sacrifice of many things, but it included 13 bulls.
Every day the bull count went down and stopped with seven. Seven, why seven? My brain wanted the numbers to coincide with the event. Start with thirteen bulls and end with one bull. That makes more sense to me, maybe it does to you too. But the purpose of the festival is to honor God.
It is not to make my brain satisfied with how the system works! How often do we get caught up on how we are doing something? Many times, we are consuming our energy with a focus on what activity we are choosing to do. Other times we focus on how others are choosing to do something.
When we can look to see why we are doing something we may find misalignment occurring. Where am I missing the why today and because of it failing to honor the sacrifice of Christ? Where might you be missing the why in your life because of the systems you have put in place?
We might do well to remember that others have put systems in place as well and they may not be honoring Christ. Breaking through our limits for Jesus is an honorable thing to do. What is the first thing that you can do to begin getting yourself aligned in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Jesus, you taught us why we are to be in relationship with you. It is the Father in heaven that established the why. He gave us you to remember that. Help us in our worldly struggle of the hows and whats.
Deliver to us today the confidence to see our misalignment with your why. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
