May 17. Who Will Settle For Average?

A person once shared with me the following idea. Everyone can be average. Entrepreneurs and leaders will have the opportunities to do multiple above average things. Helping them to take advantage of the things that are above average opportunities was his advice to me.

As a leader or business owner, where are your above average opportunities? I like the idea of seeing on a balance sheet a line item for AAO, above average opportunities. Do you have room on your balance sheet for that line? Are you actively engaged weekly, thinking about this idea and who helps you with them?

If not, you might be missing the listing of your biggest asset. Are you excited about sharing those ideas with your family and your teams? Where do you currently have that list of those opportunities? Are you treating them like inventory, sitting on a shelf somewhere where they are gathering dust?

Are they buried and forgotten at the bottom of your handbag or folded up and hidden in your wallet? If so, you might miss the opportunity because it was not at the tip of your tongue or the top of your mind. There is only about forty-five days left before the first half of the year will be exhausted.

Do you have a half time activity planned to examine the opportunities you have missed or have captured? What is the first thing you can do this week to focus and plan to take advantage of an opportunity before that half time event occurs? Your leadership might be determined by how well you prepare and experience half time.

The Bible is full of people that had above average opportunities. Moses, King Saul, David, Joshua, The Disciples, John, every recipient of a miracle, the blind, crippled and diseased had above average opportunities.

If you made a list of those who were given opportunities in the Bible, who would you list? I challenge you to do that right now, go ahead and write them here in the margins, list them on your phone, post them, text me, just make a list quickly. Congratulations on making a list.

Let us point to that list. If God gave these people, people like you and me an opportunity, is it reasonable to think he is going to give you an opportunity as well? We can probably make a list of people in our life that have had great opportunities.

I believe that those in your sphere of influence, regardless of their station could list you as someone that has had opportunities. Our brothers and sisters in Christ, and the lost of the world, are counting on us to take advantage of the greatest opportunity that there is.

Being a disciple, follower, and sharer of Jesus is the biggest opportunity for a Christian. When we decide to follow his way of living, we can see the world as an opportunity. How might you exhibit leadership in your faith by taking advantage of an opportunity?

What are you going to do in the next seven days to take advantage of it?

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you gave us Christ to walk the earth and then brought him back after death through resurrection. What an opportunity! You sent the Holy Spirit back to be among us. What an opportunity! We are on this earth right now, with those who are lost and with those who you have found.

Help us to take advantage of the opportunities that you place in our path. May we honor your capabilities by using our voices and hearts. May the words of our mouths bring people’s hearts to you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
