When a leader needs help leading, where do they turn to? Where do you turn to? I believe that it is a common perception that the leaders experience, education, and training will protect and guide them. But if our future is bigger than our past, one will surely run across a situation that has not been met by ourselves or our teams before.
What then? When we arrive at a new high or new low, our perception is not focused because we can be limited by our past. That is where a new perspective just might be the answer. The challenge is finding a person that is trustworthy, who can assimilate to your situation, and who may share perspective without judgment.
You are after all, a leader, who can make the judgments for your new direction. Who have you helped bring a new perspective to before? Are they worth reaching out to again? You have brought value to others and can remember the joy of helping others. Let that encourage you.
Who can you reach out to, that you trust, to do the same for you? Allowing ourselves to place a focus on an outside perspective allows us to see things in a new way. There may be no better time than now to reach out to set the stage to do exactly that. What can you do with a focus like that this week?
Who are your Christian mentors or accountability partners? Many people do not have anyone. But there are times for many of us when we need others to help us. We read, “So I approached one of those standing beside the throne and asked him what it all meant. He explained it to me like this:” Daniel 7:16 NLT.
This is such an encouraging concept to me. Daniel, the master dream interpreter, had to get help to interpret his own dream. If Daniel, inspired by God with a spiritual talent, needed help then surely there are those that can help you and me. We are brothers and sisters together.
Daniel was certainly in a unique ability zone as a dream interpreter. But even Daniel could place a focus on getting some help. When we are practicing in areas of our faith in the doing just ok zone, we can make improvements as well. Who do you know that might be able to assist you in your walk of faith?
God has created each human being in his own likeness, and each is full of special gifts. Who might have a gift that can be used to help you reach your dreams? What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you have given us tools to use to complete your tasks of love on this earth. But often we find that our tools are not used in the correct manner, or we do not have the right ones for the job.
Make obvious to us those that have the capabilities to assist us when we just cannot see the solution. Making the blind to see is the prayer we pray. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
