As a leader, are we ready to help pick people up? It seems reasonable to be ready because we know they will fall. We all fall. As leaders of companies, the results we attempt to deliver have probably seemed daunting to some of our team. This might be especially true of the newest members of the team.
They might have fallen away from the idea, fainted at the mere idea, and started to doubt even before they started. When we start new projects, some of our team might get overwhelmed at just the thought. Our ability to pick them up and reset them on the solid foundation is critical.
Part of being a leader is constructing the safety net and solid foundation so that when we fall, we do not damage the foundation. We do not want our team members falling off and getting hurt either. Think about the crow’s nest or a look out deck high above on a sailing ship.
Having a net to catch an accidental fall helps to protect the crew and the ship itself. When was the last time someone on your team fell? What can you do as a leader to lift them now, and get them standing strong?
Leadership can require us to be creative, powerful, and compassionate to help people get up. Which one do you think you can leverage to assist others to rise up?
We live in a broken world. But we also have Christ that renews our souls and accepts us. It is easy to get stuck in brokenness when we fail and fall. But our world is full of grace and love as well, so maybe there is a better way to fall.
We read, “As Gabriel approached the place where I was standing, I became so terrified that I fell with my face to the ground. “Son of man,” he said, “you must understand that the events you have seen in your vision relate to the time of the end.”” Daniel 8:17 NLT.
When was the last time you fell to your knees to pray? When was the last time you fell to your knees to honor the Father and give thanks? To take a knee requires leadership of ourselves. We must make a conscious decision to go to a knee and do it with intention or else we could get injured.
If you ram your knee onto the hard floor, or a stick there will be pain. Taking a knee is done with thought. If you feel it is time to take a knee you might consider if there are others to ask to join you. Be a leader and take a knee this week to honor God. You just might be surprised who might join you. There might not be a better time than today to do it.
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, from the minute we come into being you want us. So much so, that you even sent your Son to pay the price for our brokenness. As we age, our joints and muscles grow old and wear out, but may we never forget to come to you occasionally on bended knees.
May we bend now and ask you for guidance on what we might give today to Honor you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
