November 23. My Map Is Not Talking.

Mark Queen • November 23, 2024

Do you have twelve trusted people to help you read the map?

Those who have been leaders in the past do not say, "It is an easy road to be a leader." Regardless of whether you lead a family, an organization, a team or a company, there are going to be potholes, detours, and natural disasters along the road.

So, what are you doing to prepare for them? When you drive, it might be wise to have a spare tire, a map, a navigator and to know the weather forecast. As a leader, do you have an emergency readiness plan communicated? Technology allows for some work to be done remotely, are you allowing that on snow days?

You have a team in place to deliver value and run the tasks you have established. But do you have a navigator to help coordinate the path that you have planned for the trip? A computerized system on your phone or Garmin will only reflect what you put in.

Its perspective is severely restricted. When the potholes, detours and natural disasters occur we again will have to face limits. But limits are themselves limited. They can be overcome. Prior to Jim Ryan breaking the four-minute mile in track it was said that it could not be done.

But now every Olympic competition of the event breaks that record because there has been coaching that has occurred. Being an entrepreneur or leader does not mean you have to do it by yourself. What limits would you like to eliminate? Who can come alongside you and help you to break them?

Just because we have faith does not mean that we are not going to get scared or overwhelmed. We read from Daniel, ““Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed,” he said. “Peace! Be strong now; be strong.” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength.”” Daniel 10:19 NIV.

This intervention brought comfort from God to Daniel. As the hands and feet of the faith, we too can inspire each other to be strong. Think back to the times of your life where others, maybe even just one person lifted you up. They emboldened you and at that minute you knew you were worth something.

That someone broke the limit that you had in your way. We are priceless in the sight of God, and we can be the outstretched hands to help each other up. Who in your sphere needs someone to lean on? We can be a pillar to help. Who is making a misjudgment and going down a wrong path which will limit them?

How soon will you have a conversation to challenge their perspective so that they might see it for themselves? Who do you know that is using the wrong map to get somewhere? Maybe you can find a navigator or be one to help the situation.

What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, the road less traveled is curved and at times, a treacherous path. Thank you for sending Jesus to be our copilot. Guide us to be in relationship as his church to help one another.

Send us navigators we can trust, like you have sent the angels we read about in the Bible. Guide us to be your hands and feet where you might be able to use us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
