September 11. What Attitude Is Essential Today?

Mark Queen • September 10, 2024

Setting an attitude helps us to get up when we fall.

As a leader, we can recognize that different teams have different values. They deliver them differently and they have different attitudes as well. For many, figuring out the real value is difficult. Part of the challenge of figuring it out is the attitudes we hold. For some, when they find the path of value, it can be lost.

The value can get lost when others we are working with are holding different ideas about value or working with different attitudes. Some will depart from their value proposition to meet another's wants or needs. We are leaders who can be accountable to hold the attitudes that support our value.

We do not have to give in when it comes to delivering our value. It is ok to say, "No thanks, we will pass this time." When we get distracted, our clients will not likely be served as we wish. Maybe if our focus is on full value delivery, our attitudes will be promoted and protected.

Let us keep searching and let us continue to deliver value. Where does your team need to do some searching? What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?

In our faith, the attitudes we keep can be promoted and protected as well. We read, “But we refused to give in to them for a single moment. We wanted to preserve the truth of the gospel message for you.” Galatians 2:5 NLT. There are issues of our faith that are essential and there are others that might not be essential.

For the nation of Israel, they had the law and it was certainly essential to them. But we believe that God had a different vision and sent Christ. That is essential to us as Christians, but it may not be essential to the Jew. Have you ever had a conversation with others about what they believe is essential?

Maybe being able to have a conversation without being judgmental about what others believe in is essential to grow in our faith. Being curious and leaving judgment behind is an attitude that promotes love. What is essential for you this week in your faith?

Are you in the Bible, doing a devotion, actively praying or maybe attending worship occasionally? A focus on what is essential to you just might be the means to drawing closer to Christ today. Our attitude can be changed in an instant. What attitude can you make essential for that drawing nearer to happen?

What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?

Let us pray, Father God, we want to draw near to you today. Empower our hearts and ears to be open to the Holy Spirit so that you can access us. Make our actions honor you as we connect and serve in your love. Whisper with your still soft voice that which you desire to be essential today. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen
