I remember my grandparents taking me fishing as a youth. One of the first things we did was to grab a shovel and head to the garden to dig for worms. The soil was fertile there and worms were generally always found. The pond would be the next stop and as a general rule we almost always caught fish.
What tools are your teams using to deliver your value proposition? You probably have a client relationship management system, a financial software or system and maybe you even have an enterprise reporting program.
But like the fisherman, if you do not use the right tool, the right resources, and use them in the right places, your results will not likely be what you desired. Fishing poles are not a very reasonable digging tool to find worms. Hooks are not very good needles although both are best when sharp.
If your trip to the pond does not include hooks, then your trip with worms might not be very successful. Is your team using a project management tool as a client relationship management tool? It is likely that profits are not as deep as they could be if we were using the right tools for the right job or if the right people were doing the right things.
The soil is fertile, and the pond is full of fish. As a leader, where might you need some new tools to reap better results to benefit your team and your clients? What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
As a people of faith, we have the opportunity to grow. Have we considered recently the tools, our people and our places that help us? We read, “A heavy sledge is never used to thresh black cumin; rather, it is beaten with a light stick. A threshing wheel is never rolled on cumin; instead, it is beaten lightly with a flail.” Isaiah 28:27 NLT.
Do you have the right people in your faith, helping you to grow? Who are your accountability partners and who are you worshiping with? Who are you working with to connect people to Christ and what project management system are you using?
The soil is fertile, and the pond is full, so are you ready? Our walk with Christ is rich and fertile as well and there are many that do not claim him yet. A piece of our faith is the call to leadership and sharing the invitation for others to get to know Christ.
The Holy Spirit will confirm a relationship, but you just might be the tool that God can use to bring someone to know Jesus. Is a relationship with Jesus the tool that you have been missing that might just restore a broken life? What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Father God, it is a new day and we come to you in thanks and praising your name. Be a light unto our path today and expose the areas that we might grow in. Help us to find those that we can grow with and those that we might help grow.
Make our minds dig deep into the Bible like shovels into the earth. Guide us as we fish for men, women and their families. May your catch be plentiful. We know that each is a trophy to you as all are worthy, regardless of their brokenness. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen,
