Who is on your team today and in your sphere of influence? I like to think of a team as a drawing. Imagine you put your pen on a piece of paper. Then a drawing expands as you draw a small dot and then begin to drag your pen around and around making a spiral. Our teams might be like the spiral.
The spiral starts small and grows over time. It grows with different people being added and a larger sphere of influence is created as it begins to include external members of your team as well. How can you provide better value by adding some members to your internal teams? It may be that a great place to look is to your external team members.
They have a perception different from yours which could be extremely valuable if they were brought internally to your team. If you could add an extra external team member today why would you add them? Whether it is an internal or external, maybe your largest boost to profitability is contingent upon that addition.
The entire team can be accountable to be on the lookout for new team members. Do you have an accountability system to add them? What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are connected. We are connected to the church and our families, to Christ and our purpose. But who are we bringing along with us? We read, “For the Sovereign LORD, who brings back the outcasts of Israel, says: I will bring others, too, besides my people Israel.” Isaiah 56:8 NLT.
I was one of those outcasts, were you? I was invited into this team. Perhaps you might be the next one to come onto the team. Maybe you are the one that is accountable to invite someone else to the team. God invited us to a relationship through Jesus Christ even though we were outcasts. I am in that sphere and spiral now.
We now have the responsibility, not just the capability, but responsibility to invite others. In your sphere of influence, like a pond, are you casting out into it to see if you can bring someone to Christ. Who might you be able to connect with that would help you on your path? Those that might help you might not be connected to Christ. But they might become connected by you.
Some might build fishing poles, while others make stringers, string or provide transportation to a pond to fish. But they are part of the team casting. I believe that is the situation we are sometimes involved in. Let us look to external resources this week that might help us to connect with others. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Jesus, you are our connection. Our path might be like a cone, winding in such a circular pattern. But we want you on our spiral, moving up in a closer relationship with you. Send the Holy Spirit today to allow us to connect with others.
Make our time together be precious and priceless. May we connect, grow and serve because our time is precious. Draw us near you Lord, take us up the spiral of excellence. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen,
