Leaders, to which side has your team been leaning? Has it been towards abundance or scarcity in their attitudes? I think it might be that in a value proposition business we can find abundance. Our markets are larger, clearer, and our message is understandable and conveyable.
We can find more right fit team members, both internally and externally. We have more confidence. Our profitability and generosity can blossom and grow best in abundance. But scarcity is also an approach that leaders can battle. Our brain's neural networks are wired this way. Scarcity is not about growth; it is about price and cost.
Scarcity is about the battle of competition instead of being an industry leader. Scarcity is about fear and not about value. Scarcity is about the past and present, not the present and the future. Where are you in a scarcity mindset? Where can you and your team focus on transforming scarcity into abundance and fear into confidence?
Value is waiting for us there. The natural instinct is towards scarcity. That means that to have an abundance attitude requires us to do an intervention of our instincts. What is the area that your team is struggling with a scarcity mindset? What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
When Jesus walked the earth, I think that he exhibited an abundance mindset. In abundance, we find love. We read, “Love is patient, love is kind..... Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV. I shortened this famous and well known chapter. I like it because it has so many explanations of what love is not and what love is.
The passage shows that love is extremely abundant when we allow it to be. We are called to love, and in my words, to be an abundant people of Christ. Who might help you transform where you are feeling fear and scarcity and turn towards abundance?
Would that be a great mindset for the week ahead? What is the first thing you can do ab
out it in the next seven days? If you are not willing to answer the question you might be stuck in a scarcity attitude at this moment.
Let us pray, Jesus, we want you to be in our lives abundantly. Yet we find that we react so many times out of fear. We think things are scarce. We think that there might not be enough, that we have to compete, or we might somehow be a victim or lacking.
All we really do is remove us from the incredible abundance of God’s love. Take away our fears today even if just for a minute or hour. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
