August 7. Are You Inspired?

As a leader in your family, for your team or at your company, where are you inspiring? Inspiring others may come in many types of forms. Sometimes it might be by sharing your creativity, while at other times it might be just by being a great listener. A leader might inspire in an email, letter or by phone call.

Inspiring does not have to be a charisma charged motivational meeting, but it might be. Where have you been inspiring in the last thirty days? Regardless of the means, form, or type, being inspirational delivers value. As leaders, that is what we are about, value.

Value is action that you take that helps others move forward while continuing to overcome obstacles. It is action that allows us to grow with opportunities. Being inspirational just might be the most important role of all of your tasks as a leader. It can be a challenge mentally to see oneself as being inspirational for others.

Ask yourself who the three people in your life were that you might have inspired. What is it that you did to inspire? Maybe today is the day to consider sharing it again with your team. I wonder how those on your team have inspired you and others. When that thought just occurred, we can tell that it might be easier to recognize when we have been inspired than when we have provided it.

Inspiration is important and it brings value. How can you bring some inspiration this coming week? What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?

As a brother and sister in Christ, we are in relationship with one another. I have been reflecting on moments where others have had a positive impact on my life. It seems as if these moments are where others have been able to inspire me.

I did not necessarily recognize it at the time that it was inspirational, but it really was. Those moments have happened in many different forms. Some were in professional development forms, others in challenges of health, and others have helped with my walk of faith.

Where have you been inspired in the last year? How was it helpful to your faith? We read, "So the king asked me, “Why are you looking so sad? You do not look sick to me. You must be deeply troubled.” Then I was terrified, but I replied, “Long live the king! How can I not be sad?

For the city where my ancestors are buried is in ruins, and the gates have been destroyed by fire.” The king asked, “Well, how can I help you?”" Nehemiah‬ 2:2-4‬ NLT‬‬. So out of sadness, the king delivered value by taking notice and asking how. The king helped and he inspired Nehemiah to move forward in action.

Where might you be able to help someone else today to move forward by asking, "How can I help you"? Let us pray, Heavenly Father, we all have the ability to help others in some shape. We know because we were formed in an image of you. Your compassion and love go ahead of us wherever we travel. Be with us and guide us as we relate to one another.

Give us courage to help others when we see the opportunity. Help us to be strong in heart and word when we ask others, how can I help you. In Jesus’ name, we pray.
