December 21 Is there a time doctor?
Are we being stuck in transaction oriented relationships? They are the ones where the focus is based on what you can do for me now. There are many examples of that in our everyday walks. But as leaders, we might be called to be more value-based.
Value-based relationships, whether they are with our families or in our businesses, require patience. It might be that there are times that others are hurt or damaged by transactions. This can happen when the perspective of a win lose proposition is chosen.
When people lose, or are hurt, they can become patients because of our lack of patience. Where might you consider uncrossing the letter T and bending it to make the letter C because of showing patience? Did you notice a change of the spelling of the two words?
As a leader, we can transform others by using our patience. That transformation starts with us as leaders and gives us the power to impact time. Where is our team creating patients because of harm? If that happens, we are creating limits.
When we inspire our team to use patience, we remove limits. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
In our faith, our actions sometimes get crossed up with our intentions. It might be that we are rushing into things and hitting limits when that occurs. We read, “And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved.
This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him—” 2 Peter 3:15 NLT. God's patience, that phrase is something that should enhance our hope. I often get distracted and rush into what the world might ask me to do when I should be listening for the Holy Spirit to speak instead.
Patience, just take a breath and wait a second. The world can surely wait. I think we might grow our relationship with Christ better by testing the patience of the world more and testing the patience of God less. Where has your patience been weak this year?
God’s patiently waiting for us to forgive and find love. Jesus came to the earth and found love with actions that honored God. Where can we break the limits of our intentions and act this week? Will it be in the scriptures, in actions of love towards others, or perhaps a change of our attitude?
Maybe this week we can consider how we can give three times more than we receive. With the help of The Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, and The Father, anything seems possible. What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, your love has no boundaries and neither does your clock. Let our love for one another be what marks time instead of the clock. Change our concept of time so that love is what makes us move. Guide us not to hurt one another but to have patience with each other. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
