People do not plan to fail; they fail to plan. Someone has said that before and leaders either live it out or not. The quality and impact of a leader may be a result of this one issue. Do you have a plan? I bet that many of you do.
When we look at our plans, we might find that it could be missing some components. If your plan is missing components, then a result will be missing results that we desire to lead. Do your plans include a plan for growing your faith, growing your relationships with family and friends, and growing the people on your teams?
Do your plans include serving your neighborhood, your community, state, or country? Where is your plan possibly absent from these areas of concern? It is not too late to amend the plan for the year. Half the year is gone so when is the last time you saw your plan? It is probably time to pull it out and look at it.
Let us make the last half of the year be the best six months of plan implementation ever while at the same time having our value delivery system operate at the highest level as well. Who will you be able to recruit to help you carry out the revised plan?
Collaborating with others can be difficult but most of the valuable things in life do not come easily even though they are simple to see. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
As a brother and sister of faith, what is your plan to increase your faith and to draw closer to Christ this year? Without a plan we just might suffer more frustration than we need. The people of Israel and Judah knew this.
“Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the court secretary, “I have found the Book of the Law in the LORD’s Temple!” Then Hilkiah gave the scroll to Shaphan, and he read it." 2 Kings 22:8 NLT. The people of God in the Bible had been led by many kings to do the wrong things. Most notably was their behavior of worshiping false gods.
They had forgotten about the plan, the covenant that their ancestors had made with God. They even lost the scroll and misplaced it. Where is your written plan and goals about your faith journey for the year? Is it lost like the nation of Israel was?
Maybe it is time to pull it out and review the first six months to experience more of the power of God in the second half of the year. Do you not have any written goals regarding your faith or know someone who does not, why not? What we measure matters even in our faith.
We do not measure and have goals to earn our way to heaven. We measure and have goals because as a leader we want to influence the world for Christ’s mission. We measure to assure that we love others more and seek to draw closer to God.
If we are going to love others more, the first step might be to collaborate with others to increase the impact of that love. What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Jesus, join us as we think about our past. Comfort us as we review to refresh our point of view. We want to draw closer to you and ask that you inspire us to give, to be, to do, all with a humble attitude. Make our plans and progress follow your path. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
