June 26. Youthful Attitudes.
Youthful ideas do not have to be right to be valuable.
Look around, go ahead, actually look around in your life the last week and see where you can find the youth. I think that it is wise as leaders of companies, organizations, and families to find the youth. If we do not find the youth and connect them with vision and clarity, they might begin to wander without purpose.
We want to connect with them to bring them into a pattern of success with us because we will not have the attributes of youth for long. We can shape ourselves better by sharing our insights with those that have a different perspective.
There may not be a better way to find a different perspective than to find someone a couple of generations behind you to discuss it with. Where might your lack of connections with youth be hurting your advancement? Where has your connection served you well?
Differences among the generations will certainly include differences in attitudes. Where do the youth have different attitudes that you are experiencing? We can recall when we were younger how we might have had attitudes that were different then the attitudes that we have later in life.
What is the first thing that you can do to explore youth around you and their attitudes in the next seven days?
We read, “Joash was seven years old when he became king.” 2 Kings 11:21 NLT. Can you imagine the political leader of your country being seven years old? That seems crazy to me in my culture. But the fact is that there is probably a future president of the United States or some other leadership position of another country that is seven years old right now.
How are they being shaped and influenced? As brothers and sisters in Christ we have a responsibility to the youth of the world. We can cast a vision of success which would include love and respect, or we can cast a different vision.
Regardless of what vision is being cast they are absorbing and watching. What vision are you casting? If our attitude is one that keeps vision for ourselves and does not include the youth, then we might have limited our potential together. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you have inspired us throughout the ages. We have been created so that we age and change as we grow and develop. Guide us as we influence the youth and the youth influence us.
May we connect with each other in a means that grows our world that is honorable to you. Help us to take the opportunity to be in a relationship with our youth. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
